spicy sweet salmon
This is one of my most favorite recipes! Why? Because it's super flavorful and SOOOOO easy and fast to make. I'm talking about having dinner ready in 15 minutes! Now who wouldn't want that in their arsenal of recipes? The added benefit? This recipe is low carb so if you pair it with roasted vegetables, you can feel happy about yourself and not at all guilty about having a bit of ice cream for dessert...
I have an announcement! I am trying to expand my learning and have sewn together (very roughly), a video demonstrating just how easy this recipe really is with my handy dandy air fryer. Please be gentle in your judgements as I spent all day YouTubing my own tutorials on video editing and yes, I see all the places that I can improve on BUT its a start! So I'm excited to learn more. In the meantime, enjoy!
Spicy Sweet Salmon
2 1-inch thick salmon fillets
2 Tbsp honey
1 Tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp chili flakes
sea salt to taste (optional)
Preheat your air fryer for 400F for 5 minutes.
Slightly warm up honey in the microwave.
Wash and dry the salmon filets.
Mix together well the soy sauce, garlic powder and chili flakes into the warmed honey.
Create a small foil packet the same approximate size of your air fryer basket. This is to catch the yummy juices and keep it with the fish and also makes clean up a breeze!
Place both filets in the foil packet.
Spoon the honey-chili mixture onto each, making sure to coat the sides of the salmon.
Then, carefully place the salmon fillets foil packet in the preheated air fryer at 400F for 8 minutes (make sure to check on it - you may need to increase/decrease your time depending on the thickness of your salmon.
When time is up, carefully remove it and plate. Depending on your soy sauce (I like to use gluten free, low sodium), you might want a light sprinkle of sea salt.
Enjoy with your favorite side dishes! I like to add veggies to the air fryer right after with a simple spray of avocado oil and salt and pepper. Easy breezy and healthy!
Voila! Now see how easy it really is!
By the way, how awesome is that handmade wooden platter that I put the final product on?? My friend owns the company that makes it and they sell them on amazon (also online with lowes and ShopLadder) with other amazing items. It is completely woman-owned and everything is handmade. They also have a fantastic program put together where all their packaging is assisted from a local nonprofit agency that provides vocational training and employment opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities. You should check them out at www.athomeonmain.com for the awesome things that they sell which includes wooden wine glass/bottle/cheese boards, cutting/prep boards, wooden crates, etc...
I love supporting great small businesses like hers whenever I can. With the economy on a severe slow down, everything that we can do to support them is much need to ensure they are still around for the future. This company has been around over 40 years and has the most touching story. I will provide a link below if you want to find out more!
